My presentation was on my exportation of popular culture or culture ethnography via travel books and translations. We discussed projects such as the Global Voices that undertake translation of blogs and forums at a massive scale giving us a window into the zeitgeist of a particular city or region. And how in my experiences having knowledge about current happenings in a place you are visiting is often better than knowing the local language.
